Germantown School District 60 Board of Education met July 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Holiday Waiver Hearing Minutes

The Hearing was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by President Andrea Linders with the following members present: Lee Deerhake, Nicole Peters, Ashley Winter, Taylor Beckmann, Kennedy Brauer and Andrea Linders. Also in attendance: Superintendent Robin Becker, Board Secretary Leigh Ann Arentsen and Teacher Representative Angie Garren. Board Member Jessica Hemker was absent along with Assistant Principal Trisha Weekley and RtI/Special Education/SEL Coordinator Kristine Beer.

Superintendent Becker reviewed and discussed the Holiday Waiver to attend school on Lincoln’s birthday and take President’s Day off instead. The waiver also allows the district to attend school on other holidays if emergency days should be maxed out.

Motion (2025/26-01) to adjourn the meeting at 7:02 p.m. was made by Mr. Deerhake with a second by Mrs. Peters. Motion carried (6-0).

Regular Minutes

The Hearing was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by President Andrea Linders with the following members present: Lee Deerhake, Nicole Peters, Ashley Winter, Taylor Beckmann, Kennedy Brauer and Andrea Linders. Also in attendance: Superintendent Robin Becker, Board Secretary Leigh Ann Arentsen and Teacher Representative Angie Garren. Board Member Jessica Hemker was absent along with Assistant Principal Trisha Weekley and RtI/Special Education/Specialist/SEL Coordinator Kristine Beer.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.

Motion (2025/26-02) to approve agenda was made by Mrs. Peters with a second by Mr. Beckmann. Motion carried (6-0).

Reports:

1. Assistant Principal Report - Mrs. Weekley was on vacation so no report was shared this month.

2. RtI/Special Education/Specialist/SEL Coordinator - Mrs. Beer was also on vacation so no report was shared this month.

3. Superintendent Report

a. A list of important Back to School dates was shared.

i. August 11 – Teacher Institute Day from 8:30-3:00 pm

ii. August 11 - Bulldogpalooza (Open House) at 6:00 pm.

iii. August 13 - First Day of School for TK-8 Students.

b. Superintendent Becker concluded her report with an overview of the proposed 2025–2026 Strategic Plan, which outlines the district’s goals and strategies for the upcoming school year. The plan is scheduled for approval at the August board meeting.

4. IASB Liaison Report: Mrs. Winter had nothing new to report at this time.

Motion (2025/26-03) to approve the items of consent as follows was made by Mrs. Brauer with a second by Mrs. Winter. Roll call vote showed the following: Deerhake, aye; Peters, aye; Winter, aye; Beckmann, aye; Brauer, aye and Linders, aye.

New Business:

Motion (2025/26-04)) to approve Holiday Waiver was made by Mrs. Winter with a second by Mrs. Peters Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-05) to set Budget Hearing Date of September 10, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. was made by Mr. Deerhake with a second by Mrs. Winter. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-06) to approve 2025-26 Employee Handbook was made by Mrs. Winter with a second by Mrs. Brauer. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-07) to approve 2025-26 Coach Handbook was made by Mrs. Peters with a second by Mr. Beckmann. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-08) to approve 2025-26 Athletic Handbook was made by Mrs. Winter with a second by Mrs. Peters. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-09) to approve Transfer of $30,000 from the Bulldog Dash Fund to the Education Fund was made by Mrs. Winter with a second by Mrs. Brauer. Roll call vote showed the following: Peters, aye; Winter, aye; Beckmann, aye; Brauer, aye; Deerhake, aye and Linders, aye.

Motion (2025/26-10) to approve first reading of PRESS Policy April 2025 was made by Mr. Deerhake with a second by Mrs. Brauer. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-11) to approve first reading of PRESS Policy June 2025 was made by Mr. Beckmann with a second by Mrs. Peters. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-12) to approve the Adoption of the ICSA Special Education Procedures Assuring the Implementation of Comprehensive Programming for Children with Disabilities Revised April 2021 was made by Mrs. Peters with a second by Mrs. Brauer. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-13) to authorize a lease through American Capital to procure teacher Chromebooks and ancillary technology equipment. Roll call vote showed the following: Winter, aye; Beckmann, aye; Brauer, aye; Deerhake, aye; Peters, aye and Linders, aye.

Motion (2025/6-14) to enter Closed Session at 7:43 p.m. to discuss Appointment, Employment, Evaluation or Dismissal of Employees and Collective Negotiating Matters between the Public Body and its Employees or Their Representatives, or Deliberations concerning Salary Schedule for One or More Classes of Employees was made by Mrs. Winter with a second by Mrs. Peters. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-15) to return to Open Session at 8:25 p.m. was made by Mrs. Peters with a second by Mrs. Brauer. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2025/26-16) to rehire Bowling Coach Kayla Rutz was made by Mrs. Brauer with a second by Mr. Beckmann. Roll call vote showed the following: Beckmann, aye; Brauer, aye; Deerhake, aye; Peters, aye; Winter, aye and Linders, aye.

Motion (2025/26-17) to adjourn the meeting at 8:27 p.m. was made by Mr. Deerhake with a second by Mrs. Peters. Motion carried (6-0).
