Hillsboro Community Unit School District 3 Board of Education Building and Grounds Committee Aug. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Matt Lentz, Blake Furness, Kassie Greenwood

Others Present: Tim Downen, Fred Butler, Hope McBrain

1. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 8:00am

2. Discussion

The committee discussed ongoing issues with the elevation of the current parking area located north of the football field. The area is currently scheduled to be resurfaced with oil and chip.

Concerns were raised regarding the cost associated with excavating the existing oil and chip surface to address the elevation problem. Due to these costs, the committee explored alternative resurfacing options, including paving the area with asphalt or concrete.

After reviewing the potential benefits and long-term durability of these alternatives, the committee agreed that additional pricing information was necessary before making a final recommendation.

Additional discussion included the new gym floor, adding color to the gym space, completion of the stained concrete, upcoming events at HHS, and refinishing of the existing stairs on the southeast corner of the high school.

3. Action Item

The committee directed district personnel to contact the contractor to obtain change order pricing for paving the parking area with asphalt or concrete in place of the planned oil and chip treatment.

4. Adjournment

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45am.
