Salem Township Hospital hosted its September 2025 Lunch & Learn event, focusing on the outpatient services available to the community. Kimberly Coffman, RN, Director of Ambulatory Services at Salem Township Hospital, provided an overview of these services and highlighted the care teams and providers involved.
The hospital offers a Rural Health Clinic Walk-In service for acute, non-emergency issues. This clinic is open daily from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm and is staffed by nurse practitioners to address urgent care needs without long wait times.
Primary care is available through two on-site providers at the Rural Health Primary Clinic and two additional providers at the Family Health Care Center on Whittaker Street. The primary care team emphasizes long-term health management.
The Rural Health Behavioral Clinic addresses a range of mental health concerns with comprehensive care provided by a team of specialists. The Rural Health Surgical Clinic features Dr. Kevin Claffey, an on-staff general surgeon who manages various surgical needs.
Orthopedic services are provided by a surgeon and nurse practitioner specializing in orthopedic surgeries, except back surgery. The Rural Health Pulmonary Clinic has two providers working throughout the month in coordination with the Cardiopulmonary Department to manage lung and heart conditions.
The Outpatient Nursing Clinic supports recovery with doctor-ordered treatments such as wound care, infusions, and Port-a-Cath maintenance. Nutrition needs are addressed through consultations with a registered dietitian for weight management and chronic conditions.
For seniors facing mental health challenges, there is an Intensive Outpatient Program offering structured support for recovery.
Salem Township Hospital also rents space to outside providers who offer vascular and endovascular care, cardiology, podiatry, gynecology (including female urology), oncology/hematology, and hand surgery.
Monthly Lunch & Learn events are organized by Outpatient Care Coordinators Shelley Rose, BSN, RN and Gloria Hawkins, RN to provide free educational discussions for the public.
