Report: Ashley spent $8,517 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Ashley Elementary School is down 9 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Washington County school district spent $9,332 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,517 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 162 to 172.

Ashley's spending in 2016-17 was 34 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
