Report: Central spent $12,456 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Central Community High School District 71 is up 18 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Clinton County school district spent $10,532 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $12,456 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 571 to 579.

Central's spending in 2016-17 was 4 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
