Report: South Central spent $10,372 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at South Central Community Unit School District 401 is up 10 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Marion County school district spent $9,434 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,372 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 739 to 618.

South Central's spending in 2016-17 was 20 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
