Report: St. Elmo spent $9,137 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at St. Elmo Community Unit School District 202 is down 5 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Fayette County school district spent $9,584 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,137 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 501 to 460.

St. Elmo's spending in 2016-17 was 30 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
