Report: Staunton spent $7,393 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Staunton Community Unit School District 6 is down 3 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Macoupin County school district spent $7,643 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $7,393 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1305 to 1303.

Staunton's spending in 2016-17 was 43 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
