Edinburg Fire Protection District responded to 25 calls in 2017 - 212.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Edinburg included 23 fires - 13 structure fires, three vehicle fires and seven other fires.

In all, the department saw $85,500 in fire loss - or about $3,717 per fire.

The department also received two false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian non-fire death.

The Edinburg Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $119,614 in 2017.
