HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Breese issued the following announcement on Aug. 15.
HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese is pleased to announce that it has been included in the Becker's Healthcare's 2018 edition of the 100 Great Community Hospitals of 2018.
This list includes independent community hospitals as well as facilities affiliated with large health systems. Some hospitals serve expansive rural geographies, while others care for small communities outside of large cities. Many of the hospitals have been recognized for their clinical quality, operational excellence and economic impact on the surrounding areas. For the purposes of this list, Becker's defines a community hospital as a facility with no more than 550 beds.

Some of the growth demonstrated by St. Joseph’s Breese that leads to recognitions like this includes a $9.4 million outpatient surgery expansion and hospital renovation project, as well as the hospital’s partnership with St. Louis-based SSM Health Cardinal Glennon to expand its neonatal telemedicine offerings.
