Report: Panhandle spent $10,409 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Panhandle Community Unit School District 2 is up 11.6 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Montgomery County school district spent $9,325 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $10,409 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 532 to 491.

Panhandle's spending in 2017-18 was 22 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
