Report: South Central spent $11,230 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at South Central Community Unit School District 401 is up 18.8 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Marion County school district spent $9,455 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $11,230 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 705 to 657.

South Central's spending in 2017-18 was 15.8 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
