HSHS ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL BREESE: Community invited to “Cram the Cars” with Canned Goods for Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry

HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Breese issued the following announcement on Jan. 31.

In recognition of February being National Canned Food Month, HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois is teaming up with several community organizations to “Cram the Car” with non-perishable food items for Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry.

Help with the 5th annual “Cram the Cars” and drop off your non-perishable food items at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, or at any one of the below organizations:

Weigman Ford – 1351 William Rd., Carlyle, IL

K & J Chevrolet – 3051 Franklin St., Carlyle, IL

Breese Nursing Home – 1155 N 1st St., Breese, IL

Carlyle Healthcare – 501 Clinton St., Carlyle, IL

Villa Catherine – 491 Clinton St., Carlyle, IL

Cedarhurst of Breese – 13887 Progress Dr., Breese, IL

Villas at St. James Place – 14335 Jamestown Rd., Breese, IL

Aviston Countryside Manor – 450 W 1st St., Aviston, IL

Items can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted the entire month of February. On February 28, HSHS Home Care and Hospice will CRAM the CARS with the donated items before delivering them to Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry.

Some non-perishable items that Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry could use are:

Pancake mix and syrup

Jelly

Canned fruit

Pasta sauce

Cereal

Granola

Sugar free fruit

Low salt vegetables

Large boxes of oatmeal

…as well as any other non-perishable items. Canned fruits and vegetables are a good source of important nutrients. Select canned fruit that is packed in 100% juice or water and low-salt canned vegetables for a healthier lifestyle.
