Former state school employee Krupp paid in $29K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $613K in retirement

Former state school employee Dennis Krupp, who retired in January 2016, saved $28,906 toward a pension over 12 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Krupp would collect as much as $613,363, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Central Reporter.

The projection assumes Krupp received $12,892 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Krupp will have already received $39,848 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
