TAYLORVILLE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: TMH Auxiliary to Host 11th Annual 5k

Runners 1438373 639x239

Taylorville Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.

The Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will host its 11th annual Heart and Sole 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 21. Men, women and children of all ages are invited to run or walk the 5K course through the streets of Taylorville and enjoy the chance to be outside for a good cause.

“We have moved this event from May to September this year,” said TMH Auxiliary liaison Debbie Johnson. “We hope that this new date will give more members of our community a chance to participate. We are planning on using It’s Race Time, Inc. once again to provide timing chips so runners and walkers will get an accurate time for their race.”

Meant to encourage the community to live an active and healthy lifestyle, it is one way the Auxiliary promotes the mission of Taylorville Memorial Hospital to improve the health of the people and community it serves. Through the support of participants and sponsors, proceeds from this event help fund the Auxiliary’s current $120,000 pledge in support of the medical technologies fund of the TMH Foundation to purchase new laboratory equipment.

Registration is $10 for ages 13 and under, $20 for 14 and older and $25 for day of the event registration. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a children’s dash to follow at 9:30 a.m. Event shirts will be available for registrations received by September 6. For those who register after that date, shirts will be available for pickup in the TMH Gift Shop after October 7. For more information and to register, please visit TaylorvilleMemorial.org/Events or call Debbie Johnson at 217-824-1677.

Established in the 1950’s, the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary promotes the mission of TMH through service to patients and the community and by sponsoring healthcare-related projects through fundraising efforts.
