Carlyle Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Aug. 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Aaron Heinzmann presided over the meeting and called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m

ROLL CALL

Board Members present: Alexander, Brammeier, Diekemper, Heinzmann, Kampwerth, Perez Board Members absent: Rensing

Administrators present at roll call: Superintendent Dustin Bilbruck, GS Principal Kerrick Rahm, HS Principal Jered Weh, HS Assistant Principal Darin Smith, Treasurer Jim McClaren and Board Secretary Linda Scott

Others attending the meeting were: Mark Hodapp, Chris Birkner, Mindy Birkner and student Ann Luebbers.

3.0) CONSENT AGENDA APPROVED

A motion was made by Kampwerth and seconded by Brammeier to approve the Consent Agenda, as follows:

1. Minutes of the special board meeting on July 31, 2019 for the high school building project and minutes of the regular board meeting on July 17, 2019 2. Bills for the month for August, 2019 in the following amounts:

Education - $ 154,062.01 

Building - $ 38,340.68 

Transportation -$ 25,603.85 

Bond & Interest - $ 0.00 

Site & Construction -$ 48,704,40 

Tort - $ 0.00 

Fire Prevention - $ 0.00 

Total $ 266,710.94

3. Report of the School Treasurer for July, 2019 and place on file for the audit. 4. Report of the Activity Fund, Imprest Fund and Payroll/Benefits sheet for July, 2019.

ADMINISTRATOR REPORTS

Kerrick Rahm, Principal at CGS, thanked the staff for getting the school year off to a great start. Registration was held on August 2nd. The total enrollment is as follows: ECE - 11, Ktg - 67, 1st grade – 73, 2nd grade - 56, 3rd grade - 65, 4th grade --- 86. The current enrollment is 358. We had 32 new students and 13 students withdraw. Open house was held on August 12th. Teacher Institute day was held on August 13th. They met with Mr. Bilbruck and then met for department meetings. He thanked all that donated school supplies this year: Hannah Kampwerth, Linda Hellmann, Essendant, Maschhoff's, VFW Riders, YMCA in Breese and the 7 Nine Oh Hair Salon,

Bryan Rainey, Principal at CJHS was not present but presented his report. The registration for the JH is as follows: 5th grade - 87, 6th grade - 75. 7th graders -96 and 8th graders – 80. There are 16 new students at the JH this year. The building is finished with summer maintenance. Indian Pride Night was August 8th. The teachers have been coming in to work in their rooms in preparation for the school year. The TRIBE System activities went fantastic on August 15th and 16th. The next tribe day is August 30th. School Improvement Day is on August 30th in the afternoon. Active Shooter training is September 6th.

Jered Weh, Principal at CHS, reported that summer maintenance went very well this summer. The total enrollment is as follows: 9th grade – 71, 10th grade – 71, 11th grade – 80, 12th grade – 60, for a total enrollment of 282 students. Tammy Branon did a very good job at all the schedule changes. The fall sports begin next week. Student pictures are August 22 and 23.

Dustin Bilbruck, Superintendent, went over the Tribe Initiative this year. In building & grounds, the JH got struck by lightning and has damage, along with some damage at the high school. The football lights are fixed. The soccer scoreboard is working. The city is in the phase of starting on the project. He thanked the city for scraping out the ditch between the junior high and the high school to help with the drainage.

5.1) APPROVE 2019-2020 FUEL BID

A motion was made by Kampwerth and seconded by Alexander to approve the fuel bid from Huels Oil Company for the 2019-2020 school year as presented. There was no discussion.

5.2) APPROVE DRIVER ED CAR LEASE BID FOR 2019-2020

A motion was made by Alexander and seconded by Brammeier to approve the lease for the Driver Education car through K & J Chevrolet for the 2019-2020 school year as presented. There was no discussion.

5.3) ADOPT AND APPROVE POSTING OF TENTATIVE BUDGET

A motion was made by Kampwerth and seconded by Diekemper to adopt the tentative budget for the 2019-20 school year and post for the required 30 days. There was no discussion.

5.4) APPROVE DATE FOR BUDGET HEARING

A motion was made by Brammeier and seconded by Diekemper to approve September 25, 2019 at 6:20 pm in the HS library for the budget hearing meeting. There was no discussion.

5.5) APPROVE ROE #13 UTILITIES LEASE AGREEMENT FOR 2019-2020

A motion was made by Alexander and seconded by Kampwerth to approve the ROE #13 utilities contract with the district for 2019-2020 as presented. There was no discussion.

6.0) EXECUTIVE SESSION

A motion was made by Alexander and seconded by Brammeier to move into Executive Session to discuss Personnel (Exception 1) and Collective Bargaining (Exception 2)

Nay: none

CLOSED SESSION BEGAN AT: 6:55 P.M.

5.6 APPROVE VOLUNTEER COACHES FOR FALL, 2019

A motion was made by Diekemper and seconded by Brammeier to approve the following volunteer coach: Mitch Sefton as volunteer JH baseball coach.

5.7) APPROVE EMPLOYMENT OF STAFF FOR 2019-2020

A motion was made by Alexander and seconded by Kampwerth to approve the employment of Brianne Steinkamp as the CJHS head volleyball coach and Ben Wademan as the CHS Wrestling Club coach.

5.8) ADJOURN
