Illinois State House District 95 issued the following announcement on Nov. 18.
The Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools recently recognized State Representative Avery Bourne for her work in Springfield on education. Since taking office, she has been a staunch advocate of teachers and schools, cos-sponsoring a number of bills touching on education issues. Rep. Bourne sits on the two of the main education committees in the House: Appropriations-Elementary & Secondary Education and Elementary & Secondary Education: School Curriculum & Policies.
Rep. Bourne said, “one of my main focuses while serving in the legislature has been providing quality educational opportunities for all students while bringing more funding for our local schools that desperately need it.”
Rep. Bourne was one of the leading state lawmakers responsible for negotiating the bipartisan state funding reform legislation in 2017 that created an evidence based formula, putting hundreds of millions more dollars towards schools across the state.
