HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Breese issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.
HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese was awarded an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2019 Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes St. Joseph’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.
“Our “A” rating with Leapfrog reflects the high-quality care provided by our colleagues, medical staff members and volunteers, as well as their commitment to continuing the tradition of excellence at St. Joseph’s Hospital,” said President and CEO Chris Klay. “Patient safety is at the forefront of every decision, and we are proud to be recognized for our efforts in delivering safe patient care.”
“We applaud all hospitals that earn an A for safety, a significant achievement. HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese takes that achievement one step further by earning an A year after year,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient-safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
