Mater Dei High School issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
Congratulations to Mr. Dave Kohnen, our Disciple of the Week for the week of December 16! In his nomination, Mr. Jared Green stated, “Dave is a beloved figure at Mater Dei! You can instantly recognize the enormous amount of respect that students and teachers alike have for him. Throughout the entire school year, he coaches three different sports, continuously fostering success in every aspect along the way. He has helped me acclimate to a new school and environment in more ways than he ever had to by offering guidance and an ear for questions that allowed the transition to be as quick and painless as I could have ever hoped. He continues to pour an incredible amount of care and faith into his work here at Mater Dei, and we are extremely lucky to have him! Congratulations, Dave!” As a member of our Business Education Department, for which he also serves a department chair, Mr. Kohnen teaches Accounting Principles, Business Law, CISCO Networking Basics, CISCO Routing and Switching, Consumer Economics, Marketing, and Small Business Management. He also serves as the head coach for girls cross country, girls basketball, and track and field.
