Village of Mount Auburn Village Board met Oct. 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Village Board of Mt. Auburn met in regular session with Mayor Amber Dooley presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Present were: Mayor Amber Dooley, Trustees; Denise Carey,Sandra Gooder, Charlene Saulsberry, and Bridget Willard. Clerk Sheri Clayton and Treasurer Gerry Mahr were also present. Rick Clayton was absent.

Also present were: Officer Thomas Perry, Water Superintendent Sky Trudeau, Dennis Atteberry, Rachel LeBeane, Mike Whitehead, Buck Saulsberry, Amanda & Hallie Rankins, Vicki Simmons, and Ron Bramel.

Public Speaks:

Mike Whitehead stated that he would like to see better communication with the water department regarding water being shut off, boil orders, etc. He mentioned that although information is posted on FaceBook, website, local businesses, and on roads going out of town he believes there should be more done to get the word out to those who don’t see posted at those locations.

Charlene stated there really is no feasible way to let everyone know, especially in emergency situations. She is going to contact Mike Krachum regarding a mass calling system.

Amanda Rankins invited all to the trunk or treat at the Fire Station on October 30th.

A motion was made by Trustee Charlene Saulsberry and seconded by Trustee Sandra Gooder to accept Water Project Pay Estimates 5A, 5B, 5C, and 6.

Trustee Vote: Denise Carey - Yes. Sandra Gooder - Yes. Charlene Saulsberry - Yes. Bridget WIllard - Yes.

Committee Reports:

Finance - Nothing to report Health - Nothing to report Insurance - Nothing to report

Liquor - Stanley Ryan, VFS, asked if the board would consider revising the liquor ordinance to allow selling of alcohol to be changed from 8am to 6am. His video gaming machines can’t operate until 8am due to this ordinance and he would like them to be operational during his open hours of 6am - 8pm.

Ordinance - Nothing to report

Parks - Nothing to report

Police - Officer Perry read police report. Report is on file.

Sidewalks - Atteberry has agreement for Shawn and Melissa Carey to sign regarding the removal of the sidewalk directly in front of their house. It was stated an estimate to remove sidewalk needs to be obtained as it will be the owner’s expense to have it removed. If the Carey’s are going to remove sidewalk themselves no estimate is needed but needs to be done in good workman ship.

Streets and Alleys - Nothing to report

Water - Charlene inquired about the spreader and asked Sky if it was ready to be used for winter. Sky stated the spreader is junk but he will try to once again fix it so it can be used this year. Charlene asked him to please get estimates for a new spreader. Denise inquired about the generator that was given to the village. Sky stated he is waiting to get a few estimates. Ben Morrison was recommended by Attorney Atteberry. His number is 827-1693. Sky will contact Ben for estimate.

A motion was made by Trustee Bridget Willard and seconded by Trustee Sandra Gooder to accept Liquor Ordinance Revising Hours with amended amounts.

Amber stated there is a tree on corner of W Temple and S Elm that is on town property. Said tree has a potential risk of falling on adjacent property owners home. There are estimates on file.

A motion was made by Trustee Charlene Saulsberry and seconded by Trustee Denise Carey to accept hiring tree service to remove tree on W Temple Street.

Trustee Vote: Denise Carey - Yes. Sandra Gooder - Yes. Charlene Saulsberry - Yes. Bridget WIllard - Yes.

A motion was made by Trustee Charlene Saulsberry and seconded by Trustee Denise Carey to accept the Treasurers Report.

Trustee Vote: Denise Carey - Yes. Sandra Gooder - Yes. Charlene Saulsberry - Yes. Bridget WIllard - Yes.

A motion was made by Trustee Sandra Gooder and seconded by Bridget Willard to accept approving the September 2019 bills with the addition of $31.54 from water fund for Randy Campbell for tile repair.

Trustee Vote: Denise Carey - Yes. Sandra Gooder - Yes. Charlene Saulsberry - Yes. Bridget WIllard - Yes.

A motion was made by Trustee Sandra Gooder and seconded by Trustee Bridget Willard to accept the August 13, 2019 Executive Meeting Minutes.

Trustee Vote: Denise Carey - Yes. Sandra Gooder - Yes. Charlene Saulsberry - Yes. Bridget WIllard - Yes.

A motion was made by Trustee Denise Carey and seconded by Trustee Sandra Gooder to accept the September 3, 2019 Regular Meeting Minutes.

Trustee Vote: Denise Carey - Yes. Sandra Gooder - Yes. Charlene Saulsberry - Abstain. Bridget WIllard - Yes.

A motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Sandra Gooder and seconded by Trustee Charlene Saulsberry. All board members were in agreement.

Mayor Comments:

Amber stated trick or treating will be held October 30th and 31st from 6pm - 8pm.
