Taylorville Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Feb. 14.
The Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently hosted its 10th annual “Men Who Cook” event at the Moose Lodge 1516.
This year, “Men Who Cook” competitors prepared a favorite dish for a sellout crowd in one of five different categories: appetizers, soups, main dish, side dish or dessert.
The featured chefs were Brian Austwick, Brian Bell, Karl Buffenmeyer, Dr. Patrick Butler, Chris Combs, Brent Cornell, Fred Davis, Jim Davis, Eric Grider, Josh Hill, Kyle Kocurek, Mike Mayer, John Mickey, Evan Peters and Adam Winchester.
The winners for each category were Buffenmeyer for best appetizer, Cornell for best soup, Kocurek and Mickey for best main dish, Austwick for best side dish, Grider for best dessert and Fred Davis for best of show.
Proceeds from this event go toward the auxiliary’s current pledge for financial support of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation’s medical technology fund to buy laboratory equipment upgrades.
Established in the 1950s, the auxiliary promotes the mission of the nonprofit hospital to improve the health of the people and communities it serves through service to its patients, the community and to sponsor healthcare-related projects through fundraising efforts.
