State Sen. Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) wants the state government to spend less before it raises taxes on Illinoisans.

Plummer said he was disappointed with the excess spending in Gov. J.B. Pritzker's budget proposal.

"The problem isn’t a lack of revenue. It’s a lack of responsibility when it comes to spending," Plummer said. "We’re asking businesses and families to tighten their belts and cut back on spending but I think it’s time for Springfield to do that."

Plummer said it's always good when everyone gets together to discuss what is going on in the state, but Illinois' lack of responsibility when it comes to spending needs to be confronted.
