Illinois State Senate District 48 issued the following announcement on May 22.
State Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker-Hill) joined WMAY's Jim Leach on Thursday to provide an overview of the state's budget scenario and how lawmakers are dealing with revenue shortfalls amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The two also discussed legislative oversight of Gov. Pritzker's COVID-19 response and reopening plan, and challenges to the state's unemployment system and remote learning.
Manar is the chair of the Illinois Senate Appropriations II Committee and a lead budget negotiator for the Illinois Senate Majority.
The legislature is expected to approve a budget in the coming days.
