City of Centralia Greater Centralia Area Enterprise Zone Board met Feb. 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

There was not a quorum for this meeting

Present: Charles Mattmiller-Central City, Larry Unverfehrt–Washington County Board member, Judy Shafer-Marion County Board member, Steve Draege-Jefferson County Board members, and Debbie Smith–Marion County Board member,

Absent: Sean Wilkey-Jefferson County Board member, Keith Nordike and Jim Rakers–Clinton County Board members, Jason Enke–Centralia, Butch Mathus-Mayor Wamac, Ron Fisher-Wamac, David Meyer-Washington County Board member, Ken Buchanan-President Central City, Ty Orr- Industrial Development Commissioner, and Herb Williams-Mayor City of Centralia

Also, present: Enterprise Zone Administrator, Rose Aldag-McVey

Public Comment: None

Minutes: There was no quorum at this meeting.

Old Business: None

New Business: Aldag-McVey presented a 2019 report showing building material sales tax exemption certificates which were issued and reviewed the dollar increase in 2019 over 2018 by 403% for new construction and rehabilitation. The 2020 year to date report was distributed shows over $1.5 million in projects. Board members commented on the increase in activity. Active real estate tax abatements for the four counties within the Enterprise Zone were reviewed.

A brochure promoting the benefits of the Enterprise Zone was distributed. The next Enterprise Zone Board Meeting will tentatively take place on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

Discussion: Businesses that are planned to open and businesses that are expanding were shared by Aldag-McVey. Board members shared updates from their represented areas.
