Illinois State House District 96 issued the following announcement on July 8.
DECATUR, Ill. – State Rep. Sue Scherer, D-Decatur, is partnering with the Central Illinois Blood Center to host a blood drive for local hospitals in Decatur and Springfield to help address blood shortages.
“The pandemic has caused cancellations of blood drives that may have been held at local churches, businesses and community centers, leading to shortages of blood at our local hospitals,” Scherer said. “The need is great, so I invite healthy individuals to schedule appointments to donate for patients who rely on transfusions for various surgical procedures and other treatments. We need to ensure that blood remains available during this difficult time.”
