Litchfield FD responds to 45 fires in 2018

Litchfield Fire District responded to 102 calls in 2018 - 1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Litchfield included 45 fires - 13 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 24 other fires.

In all, the department saw $172,650 in fire loss - or about $3,837 per fire.

The department also received 57 false calls.

Four fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents.

The Litchfield Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 13 active employees and 10 retired or inactive employees, was $37,918 in debt as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $824 for every fire in 2017.
