Bunker Hill FPD responds to 47 fires in 2018

Bunker Hill Fire Protection District responded to 54 calls in 2018 - 134.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Bunker Hill included 47 fires - 16 structure fires, 11 vehicle fires and 20 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,093,000 in fire loss - or about $23,255 per fire.

The department also received six false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian non-fire death.

The Bunker Hill Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $542,547 in 2018.
