Greenville FPD responds to 53 fires in 2018

Greenville Fire Protection District responded to 151 calls in 2018 - 29.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Greenville included 53 fires - 21 structure fires, 12 vehicle fires and 20 other fires.

In all, the department saw $570,200 in fire loss - or about $10,758 per fire.

The department also received 98 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Greenville Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $584,639 in 2018.
