Greenville University issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.
Greenville University alumna Maureen Knudsen Langdoc ’02 recently facilitated a conversation between leading theologians Samuel Wells and Stanley Hauerwas. This informal dialogue—basis for a new book titled In Conversation: Samuel Wells and Stanley Hauerwas (Church Publishing, 2020)—addresses Christian life in the twenty-first century.
Wells and Hauerwas authored the book, and Langdoc served as editor. Scheduled forIn-Conversation.jpg release next month, it is the third title in the In Conversation series.
“The hope of the book was that readers get to peek around the corner and listen in as two theologians who happen to be friends chat about their work, family, and perhaps even baseball,” said Langdoc.
The conversation reveals their thoughts on the Trinity, parish ministry, non-violence, and “intimate notions” on marriage and family.
The publisher’s website says the book will help folks who follow Wells’s and Hauerwas’s theological and homiletical works discover the theologians’ inspirations. It calls the book a “fascinating read for Episcopalians and Anglicans, and those who enjoyed the first two In Conversation books.”
Maureen Kudson Langdoc, a scholar and pastor, serves as chaplain at DePauw University. She holds a masters of divinity from Duke University and a doctorate in theology and religious studies from King’s University in London. She majored in English and religion/philosophy at Greenville University
