City of Carlinville City Council Met August 3

Meeting 10

City of Carlinville City Council met Aug. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

PRESENT: Alderman Brockmeier, Alderman Downey, Alderman Howard, Alderman Koller, Alderman Link, Alderman McClain, Alderman Ober, Alderman Oswald, Mayor Deanna Demuzio, City Attorney Dan O’Brien, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, City Treasurer/Budget Officer Jody Reichmann, Police Chief Haley, Woodard & Curran Representative Dan Held

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Ober to approve minutes, seconded by Link, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Bills - Motion made to approve all listed by Alderman Koller, seconded by Oswald, motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment

Alderman McClain thanked Matt Dunn and his two sons for cleaning up on the inside of the square.

Mayor announced there will be a birthday parade for Mr. Russell Wilton, who is celebrating his 103rd birthday. The parade will be on Sunday, August 9th at 6 p.m. at the Carlinville Plaza.

Alderman Downey thanked Dan Held and the public works department for sending an employee to Virden to help with clean up after a recent storm.

Old Business

Resolution Street Sweeper – Motion was made by Alderman Link, seconded by Ober to approve resolution and have the mayor enter into a contract with Key Equipment to lease new street sweeper, motion passed unanimously.

New Business

Tree Removal City Cemetery/David and Bradley Drive – Alderman Downey was contacted by a resident near the City Cemetery concerned with dead trees in the cemetery falling on his garage. A proposal was obtained from Ruff and Tuff for $450.00 to remove four (4) pine trees in the city cemetery. Motion was made by Alderman Downey, seconded by Koller to accept Ruff and Tuff’s proposal for $450.00, motion passed unanimously.

Tree City & Bee City Award – Mayor announced that there will be an awards ceremony at the High School on August 5th, at 7:00 p.m. to present the Outstanding Volunteers Award to the Tree City & Bee City groups. The event will take place at the pollinator garden at the High School.

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 6:12 p.m., seconded by Howard motion passed unanimously.
