Germantown School District 60 Board Of Education met Aug. 12.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
Meeting called to order at 7:01 p.m. by Vice President Amy Hemker with the following members present: Shannon Kampwerth, Lee Deerhake, Danielle Ribbing and Amy Hemker. Also in attendance: Superintendent Robin Becker, Board Secretary Leigh Ann Arentsen, Assistant Principal Trisha Weekley, Teacher Representative Kelsey Peppenhorst, Maintenance Director Carl Diesen and Guest Tanner Tolan. Board Member Jennifer Arentsen joined the meeting via a conference call. Board Members Charly Hemker and Matt Korte were absent.
Motion (2020/21-31) to approve agenda was made by Mrs. Kampwerth with a second by Mr. Deerhake. Motion carried (5-0).
Reports:
Maintenance Director
• New carpet was installed in Mrs. Markwell’s Room along with new laminate flooring in Mrs. Becker’s Office.
• New mulch was spread around both the playground area and the Michelle Varel Reading Garden.
• The bi-annual refinishing of the Gym floor was completed along with painting the walls of the Gym. Walls in the Jr. High Wing Hallways were also repainted.
• New wiring was run throughout the building to the help the conversion to Fiber Internet. New cameras inside and outside the building were installed and soon our new LED Message Board will be installed outside.
• New concrete was poured in the parking lot area along with a new basketball hoop being installed. All basketball hoops will be getting new pads installed on them.
• The new floor scrubber has arrived, and we will be installing a new hands-free refillable water bottle fountain outside the gym.
Assistant Principal
• House system supplies are here for our new theme this year, #DREAM.
• Opening day teacher institute information was shared.
• Coordination of the New Teacher Mentor Program includes using the book, Engage the Brain: How to Design for Learning That Taps into the Power of Emotion.
• Google Classroom update was shared.
Superintendent Becker reported on the following:
• FY 21 Budget is a work in progress. Budget hearing is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on September 9, 2020.
• The latest Back to School Plans were shared for the 2020-21 School Year.
• A brief update was shared in regard to what is known about the Sport programs at this point.
• The upcoming School Board Election in April was discussed. We have three members whose terms will expire in April. Important Election Dates are as follows: September 22: First Day to circulate Petitions. December 14-21: Filing Period for Petitions.

Motion (2020/21-34) to approve Contract for Social Work Services was made by Mrs. Kampwerth with a second by Mr. Deerhake Roll call vote showed the following: J. Arentsen, aye; Deerhake, aye; Ribbing, aye; Kampwerth, aye; and A. Hemker, aye.
Motion (2020/21-35) to approve Risk Management Plan was made by Mrs. Kampwerth with a second by Mr. Deerhake. Roll call vote showed Deerhake, aye; Ribbing, aye; Kampwerth, aye; J. Arentsen, aye; and A. Hemker, aye.
Motion (2020/21-36) to approve First Reading of PRESS Policy June 2020 was made by Mr. Deerhake with a second by Mrs. Ribbing. Motion carried (5-0).
