THE EDINBURG COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 met in Regular Session on  Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 6:00 pm in the School Library.

Superintendent Report: Mr. Theilen gave an update on the return to in person learning on the 19th of October. He has been in consistent contact with the Christmont EMA contact to continue to monitor the current numbers to ensure a safe return. At this time Mr. Theilen assured the Board Members that we are on track to start back on the 19th with a shortened day and providing PE remotely in the afternoons.

Mr. Theilen informed the board that the interior painting is finished but they may have to come back for some smaller projects in the future.

The Board was also informed of the status of the annual audit. At this time the auditor has stated that he will have the documents finalized to present at the November meeting.

We are still seeking the following positions, Guidance Counselor, JH Special Education Teacher and an additional Para-Professional. We also recently posted for substitute bus drivers.

Principal's Report:

Mrs. Reiss gave the Board an update regarding student correspondence regarding remote learning. The High School Teachers reached out to our students to get some feedback surrounding our return to in person learning plan. The students that have responded have requested that we start back to in person learning as soon as possible.

We had our first open classroom day on October 2nd• We had approximately 105 students in the building. Everything went very well and we are excited to get our students back in the building on a regular basis.

Athletic Director Report:

HS Volleyball practice for the 20-21 season can start on February 15th. The IHSA lifted previous games per week restrictions so we will be adding games if possible.

HS Boys Basketball practice can begin on November 16th• We will be adding games if possible. The Waverly Holiday Tournament will be played this year. First round games will be played at the lower seeds home gym. Other games will be split in Waverly and Franklin.

• Motion was made by LEADY and seconded by PEACOCK to adjourn to Executive Session at 6:29 PM. Motion carries (5/0) 

• Motion was made by BECK and seconded by LEADY to return to Open Session at 6:50 • PM. Motion carries (5/0) 

VIII. OLD BUSINESS 

• Motion was made by LEADY and seconded by MORELAND to approve the Memorandum of understanding with the EEA motion Carries (5/0) 

IX. NEW BUSINESS 

• Motion was made by MORELAND and seconded by LEADY for the approval of Superintendent goals for FY2 l .Motion carries (5/0) 

• Motion was made by PEACOCK and seconded by LEADY for the approval of the updated Edinburg District Learning Plan. Motion carries (5/0)

• Motion was made by MORELAND and seconded by LEADY to approve the initiation of Phase 4 of the Edinburg District Learning Plan on October 19, 2020. Motion carries (5/0) 

• Motion was made by MORELAND and seconded by PEACOCK for the approval of the Personnel Report to include hiring Randy Silbaugh for the custodial position. Motion carries (5/0) 

X. OTHER ITEMS 

MOTION by LEADY and seconded by MORELAND to adjourn at 7:20 pm. Carried by acclamation.  (5/0)
