Illinois state Rep. Avery Bourne (R-Litchfield) doesn’t think it’ll be hard for most voters to buy into Republicans' ReImagine Illinois plan.

“One of the main bills is House Bill 626, which is super common sense,” she said in a video posted to YouTube. “It says you need 72 hours between a budget bill being introduced and when you vote on it. There’s [a] 72-hour waiting period when you buy firearms, but we don’t have a waiting period to spend taxpayer dollars.

Bourne said ReImagine Illinois will solve that problem and then some.

“We’ve seen for the last two years that we have not spent additional dollars for our schools that need it most,” she said. “One of the bills says we’ll spend the $350 million in additional funding that we promised in the school funding reform bill."

Other principles of the plan include ending the culture of corruption, instituting responsible, growing jobs and public safety.

Bourne said the four main goals of the plan are only the start.

“We need to do a lot more and our entire focus is on these four areas,” she said. “We have over a dozen bills that deal with who serves in elected office and how they’re and held accountable, everything from enhanced transparency to not being able to be a lobbyist and legislator at the same time.”

First elected in 2015, Bourne serves in the 95th District. She won reelection in November with more than 70% of the vote. Bourne’s 95th District includes all or parts of Christian, Macoupin, Madison and Montgomery counties.
