Central City School District 133 Board met March 17.

The Central City School District #133 Board of Education met in regular session at 5: 00 pm in the school library.

President, Rick Starr called the meeting to order. The following members were present: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, and Larry Ferguson. Blake Dukes joined via telephone conference call and Jordan Renth was absent.

Visitors recognized included Tracey Starr.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to approve the minutes of the regular board meeting held on February 17, 2021. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to approve the bills and payroll as presented. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to approve the treasurer’s report as presented. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to approve the proposal from Richardet Floor Covering for $31,719 for the replacement of flooring. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to allow the Superintendent the authority to begin preparations for the amended budget. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to approve the 2021- 2022 preliminary school calendar. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made at 5:12 pm by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to enter into closed session. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made at 5:21 pm by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to resume the regular meeting. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to accept the resignation of Nichole Sandahl as the Citian’s Council sponsor effective at the end of the 2020- 2021 school year. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion to accept the 4-year retirement of Kelly Capps was tabled pending a revised request.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to accept the 2020- 2021 seniority list as presented. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Scott Stevenson and seconded by Larry Ferguson to adopt the resolution referencing the “Honorable dismissal of certain educational support personnel” as presented and that the superintendent be authorized and directed to or cause to be delivered the notice to the employees as specified in the resolution. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.

Superintendent Tim Branon gave the superintendent’s report. Mr. Branon congratulated the boys’ basketball team on a successful season. He also acknowledged successful seasons in volleyball and bowling. He acknowledged several individual students in their success and promotion to state finals. Mr. Branon also advised on upcoming preliminary projects such as replacing fencing, locks, windows and brick in the Kindergarten wing, and the possibility of a generator. Mr. Branon has set the preliminary date for graduation to May 20th.

At 5:41 pm Scott Stevenson made a motion and seconded by Larry Ferguson to adjourn. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Rick Starr, Scott Stevenson, Steve Rupe, Tom Altenbaumer, Blake Dukes and Larry Ferguson. No member voted nay. Motion carried.
