The South Central Community Unit School District #401 Board of Education held a regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the South Central Middle School located at 503 South Madison Street in Kinmundy, IL. President Mike Vandeveer called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.
Present were Superintendent Kerry Herdes and Ginny Keen, Board Clerk.
A motion was made by Dan Hiestand and seconded by Jason Markley to approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting held on January 20, 2021 as presented. Roll call vote was as follows:

Motions – Regular Board Meeting 2 Wednesday, February 17, 2021
Due to a water leak issue, we will be getting estimates to fix the Elementary School roof. It’s also time to look for school buses.
A motion was made by Dan Hiestand and seconded by Jeremy Chasteen to approve the Treasurer’s Report for January 2021 as presented. Roll call vote was as follows:

Graduation dates were discussed. The plan is to hold both the Middle School and the High School ceremonies on the same evening. Middle School will be held at 6:00 p.m. and High School will be held at 7:00 p.m. They will be held outdoors weather permitting.
A motion was made by Dan Hiestand and seconded by Ann Blomberg to set the South Central Middle School graduation date as May 21, 2021 and the South Central High School graduation date as May 21, 2021. Roll call vote was as follows:

Superintendent Kerry Herdes – District Report
With two snow days used, the last day of student attendance will be May 27th. If additional snow days will be needed, remote learning days will be used. Sports activities are going well. The JV parents go to the JV games, then Varsity parents go to the Varsity games; keeping the number of spectators to 50 for each event. The games are also shown on Facebook Watch. The CNA program will not be offered at OKAW Vocational School next year. We are researching other options for the students interested in this program.
