City of Salem Historical Commission met May 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER

The Historical Commission met at the Salem Area Historical Museum. Chairman Luke Purcell called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the presence of commission members Diane Eller, Betty Purcell, Don Mills, Megan Holler, Mayor Nic Farley, Councilman Royce Bringwald, guest Mark Larimer and recording Secretary Courtney Mitchell.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Don Mills made a motion to approve the minutes. Betty Purcell seconded the motion. All members present were in favor and the motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT

See attached Financial Reports provided by Finance Director, Keli Barrow.

Luke Purcell spoke with Finance Director Keli Barrow and the City will cover expenses initially then any donations will be deposited in the Historical Commission’s account and transferred back to the City.

Betty Purcell made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Diane Eller seconded the motion. All members present were in favor and the motion carried.

CORRESPONDENCE

None

BUSINESS

1. Museum Building Updates: Luke Purcell reported that some but not much progress has been made. He’s hoping it starts progressing soon.

2. Cemetery Tour: Diane Eller reported that she’s going to meet things are on track and she’s meeting with actors.

3. Swearing in of Officer: Mayor Nic Farley was present to swear in the officers of the Historical Commission.

COMMISSION MEMBER’S REPORT

The commission invited Mark Larimer to join as a member.

ADJOURNMENT

Don Mills made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:51 p.m.
