City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met June 10

City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met June 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Agee, Lawson, Garrett, and Graham

City Harting

CRC Ex Director Germann

CRC – Allen

Youth Center - Williams

Absent: Garret and Border

Public Participation: None

Approval of Minutes: Lawson made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and Garrett seconded. Motion carried with unanimously.

Treasurers Report: Gayla gave the Treasurers report. She stated that the expenses from the Juneteenth event will be taken from the account. Garrett made the motion to accept the report and Agee seconded. Motion carried with unanimously.

Ongoing Business:

1. Fairview Pool- Gayla reported that the new City Manager is taking ideas on what could replace the pool. Be moving with something. Looking for Grant money. Garrett asked if there had been an agreement between the city and the Rec Complex on fees due to no pool. Sonya replied not at this time.

2. Goals/Responsibilities- no additions

3. Juneteenth- The event is scheduled for June 19th. Gayla reported that she would like the commissioners there around 10am to 2pm to assist in cooking the hot dogs and giving them to the public. Many events have been planned for the entire day. They are still looking for more prizes for Bingo and give a way.

4. CRD report- Scott submitted an informational page on the current stats on registration for Baseball, Softball and Tball. The season began this week.

May 21, 22, & 23 the Super Sonics had a tournament at Rotary Park. July 9th, 10th & 11th is a Super Sonic tournament. GSA has 4 tournaments that are scheduled.

5. Youth Center –

a. June 19th at the Youth Center, COVID vaccine will be available for youth.

b. Tutor program is still on-going.

c. Summer Camp will be held from June 14th thru July 16th. They will be coordinating the days and time with the City of Centralia schools summer school. They will be having various field trips and activities.

d. Youth Summer Camp is needing to hire more staff and if anyone knows of someone send them to Herb.

New Business:

Sonya reported that still waiting on the paint to paint the stripes for the Pickleball.

Asked if anyone had gone and looked at the tree line an Agee and Graham suggested to speak with Pat about trimming the branches. Also suggested ask 618 Group if they have any issues while playing from the Tennis court lights.

Adjournment:

Garrett made the motion to adjourn, and Lawson seconded the motion. The motion carried.
