City of Centralia Veteran Affairs Committee met June 10.

VI. TREASURY REPORT – Motion to Approve: 1st Sensel & 2nd Moran Votes: All in Favor
VII. ONGOING BUSINESS
1. 4th of July parade
a. Derek was directed to do two press releases one for the parade and once announcing Grand Marshal Murphy.
b. Mathus mentioned there are 60 entry forms out there and is expecting to receive half of them back.
c. Derek was directed to contact Greenview Golf Course for golf carts as there are none available. Also, he was told to check with SAF to get their honor guard at the parade.
d. Mathus suggested adding the entry form to the website, and Derek agreed to get it uploaded.
2. Flag retirement with DAR
a. It will be on September 11th at noon with the Boy Scouts & DAR in Wamac city park the weekend of Wamac Fest. Mathus is bringing the BBQ and DAR is bringing desserts and coordinating with the Boy Scouts.
3. Purchase of Flags, Flag Poles, Brackets, and Grommets etc.
a. Derek was directed to consider purchasing 20-25 more flag poles after we get the rest of the current stock hung up.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
1. DAR Flag Repairs
i. 28 Flags are repaired and 25 more need to be fixed.
2. Order of Extra Flag Poles
i. The flagpole order has come in, and Derek was directed to acquire more 30in. straps to hold them.
3. Trolley for 4th of July
i. The Trolley will be at the 4th of July event.
IX. OPEN DISCUSSION
1. Ulem requested a copy of everyone’s contact information on the Veteran’s Affairs Commission.
