City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met Oct. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Agee, Patton, Border, Lawson, Garrett, Young, and Graham

CRC Ex Director Germann

CRC – Allen

City - Harting

Absent:

Public Participation: None

Approval of Minutes: Agee made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and Rick Garrett seconded. Motion carried with unanimously.

Treasurers Report: Harting presented the Treasurers report stating no expenses paid and some interest was reported.

Ongoing Business:

1. Fairview Pool- Agreed to have the Fairview Pool item removed from the agenda.

2. Goals/Responsibilities- Gayla Harting suggested to have placed on this list 2 more items.

a. Laura Leeke – Juneteenth cook out

b. Fairview Park Fall Bash- cook out

3. Juneteenth- Gayla reported that the City of Centralia will no longer be receiving the income from Juneteenth and not responsible for expenses. There will be a committee that will have an account set up in the future to be responsible for the finances.

4. CRD report

a. Scott submitted an informational page on the on registration for Outdoor Soccer. Scott reported that we had 108 players which resulted in 12 teams.

b. Scott submitted the total gate income from the 2021 Class L Baseball and softball State Tournament.

c. Scott reported that the Super Sonics has 3 teams that will be having Rotary Park as their home field this fall and next summer.

5. Youth Center

a. Calvin reported that on November 20th the Youth Center will be having a Blues night at Castleridge. Tickets are $55.00 per person and tickets can be purchased from board members or through online through Castleridge.

6. City Report

a. Gayla reported on the Fall Bash and thanked Jack Graham for cooking the hot dogs. The event went very well with 2 courts of Sand Volleyball, 4 Courts of Pickleball, and 6 bags which were going on at the same time.

b. Gayla asked all committee members to mark their calendars for the meetings to be held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at noon at the Rail.

New Business:

1. Sonya and Gayla presented pictures of the tennis courts with all the debris from the pine trees. The City Manager had asked the committee to provide direction on this issue. Jack suggested to remove the exiting trees and replace them with White pines next spring. Agee suggested planting them halfway between the Baseball fence and the Tennis court fence.

2. Gayla suggested the committee to begin thinking about what could be placed in the Fairview Pool area.

Adjournment:

Border made the motion to adjourn, and Agee seconded the motion. The motion carried.
