Approval of Minutes of August 16th, 2021 – 1st Shoemaker & 2nd Denton – All members present voted in favor of approving the minutes.
V. Old Business
1. Fuel Branding – The City is hoping to finish the fuel branding with Titan Fuel by the end of the year.
2. Airport Budget – City Council will be reviewing the proposed budget for approval. The budget has stayed like the previous year with a little funding to do some improvements at the airport terminal. The main item is the continuation and hopeful completion of the obstruction study. Additionally, we have received payment and confirmation of insurance from Airgo for the next year. Stover suggested we consider having a hanger that is rentable for pilots to store their aircraft if they are staying overnight. Graham asked how these courtesy cars are managed. Derek mentioned that he was going to ask other local airports with courtesy cars on how they manage it as he is unfamiliar with the subject.
VI. New Business
1. FAA Grant Funding – The City is hoping to utilize some of the FAA grant funding to complete the fuel branding and maybe the keypad doors and/or courtesy car. Crawford Murphy Tilly (CMT), the engineers for the airport, are predicting there to be a little grant money funneled through IDOT Aeronautics Division for airport improvements. Shoemaker asked it the city of if CMT had anymore information on the costs to fix the large airport hanger door. Derek informed Shoemaker that it was not eligible for FAA funding as it is a revenue generating improvement since we charge rent for the large hanger. Shoemaker suggested reaching out to some local companies that could give the city a quote for the costs to repair the large hanger door.
2. Requested Improvements – Stover suggested that the city run the street weeper around the airport runways and tarmac to help remove pavement debris that damages aircrafts, increasing pest control treatments, and making sure farmers remove the haybales near the runways as soon as possible as they are hazardous. Shoemaker suggested that we make sure all the fuel tractors for the crop dusters have an oil pan under them to prevent pavement damage. Additionally, Stover asked if Airgo would still have similar access to the airport if there were remodels like a pilot’s lounge. Derek said that it would be like our current agreement as it is still in place. Harris requested a copy of the Airgo agreement to review it as he is new the Airport Advisory Committee.
VII. Discussion
VIII. Adjournment – 1st Graham & 2nd Denton – All voted in favor of adjournment.
