City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met Jan. 13.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Agee, Patton, Border, Garrett, and Young

CRC Ex Director Germann

CRC – Allen absent

City – Harting and City Council Rob Jackson

Youth – Williams - absent

Absent: Graham and Lawson

Public Participation: None

Approval of Minutes: Agee made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and Butch Border seconded. Motion carried with unanimously.

Treasurers Report: Gayla Harting presented the Treasurers report stating the only additions to the report is the interest earned on the account. Ricky Garrett made the motion to approve with Dave Agee seconded.

Monthly Reports:

1. CRD report

a. Sonya reported that a meeting was held with Scott Randall, Derek Sherman, Scott Allen, and herself to discuss new programs for Fairview Park. This year will be offering the following new programs, 3 on 3 Youth basketball league, Pickleball League, Tennis League, Corn Hole league, Horseshoe league, Tennis Camps for the youth, and Sand Volleyball. It was discussed that the Horseshoe pits will need repairs and Corn hole boxes will need to be built.

b. Sonya reported the Scott had registered the City for the Utrip baseball and softball tournaments for this summer.

c. Sonya reported that she had been contacted by Galen Mahle, from Clinton County, and he asked the City to join their summer Rec travel baseball and softball for 5th and 6th grades. They have had the league for many years. The board thought it was a great alternative and could give the players more games. Their concern was the transportation issue. Sonya explained that there will be a separate registration sheet for that age group.

2. Youth Center

a. Herb Williams called in by phone and reported that the Youth Center needs three part time staff.

b. February is Black History month, and they will be having the essay contest again for all age groups. Gift certificate will be given as prices.

c. Wall of Honor- The Youth Center will be taking applications for nominees. March 5th is the Banquet

Butch Border made the motion to adjourn, and Melissa Patton seconded the motion. The motion carried.
