City of Centralia Historic Preservation Commission met Jan.13.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: 

Approval of previous minutes- May 13, 2021 M: Shoemaker 2nd: Richardson 

OLD BUSINESS: 

• Information and training regarding the Preservation District – The state is still restricted on their travel  due to the recent increase in COVID numbers. Harting has emailed and hopes that they might be able to  do their presentation during Locust St. Historical Fair in May. 

NEW BUSINESS: 

• New plaque applications from commissioners – No applications turned in from Commissions. For the  new commissioners present and as a reminder for those that have served for a while, Harting handed out blank applications and explained the history of the plaques and the application process. 

• Discussion of Locust St. Fair. The Date will be May 7th and the event will be from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm as  in the past years. Save the Date Flyers have been sent to previous vendors and those that have expressed  interest. Commissioner Ashby will be in touch with the reenactment group that has came the last few  years, asking them to attend again. Shoemaker will be in touch with the Museum and check about  possibilities of doing something with the Caboose this year. Harting will reach out to the CHS Rock  Band that preformed last year. Bev Virobik will be our Contact Person for the Museum. Jim Shain has  already been in touch regarding the Antique Car Show for this year. Harting reserved the Trolley for the  Elmwood Cemetery Tours and will reach out to those that helped with the tours last year. The IL.  Theater, City Hall and Council Chambers will all be open and available for use that day.
