City of Carlinville City Council met March 7

City of Carlinville City Council met March 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

PRESENT: Alderman Harber, Alderman Koller, Alderman LeVora, Alderman Link, Alderman McClain, Alderman Ober, Alderman Wagstaff, Mayor Sarah Oswald, City Attorney Don Craven, Zoning, Econ Dev Zilm, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, Police Chief Haley Absent: Alderman Downey, City Treasurer/Budget Officer Jody Reichmann

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Ober to approve minutes, seconded by Harber, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Bills - Motion made to approve bills by Alderman Koller, seconded Wagstaff, motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence

Macoupin County Cruisers – Motion was made to approve closure of the first block of South Broad and East Main for the Macoupin County Cruisers Car Show on July 30, after a motion was made by Alderman McClain, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Gene Sullivan Correspondence – Gene Sullivan of Sun Thai asked for permission to close the first block of East Main, one to two Saturdays a month this summer for entertainment, motion was made to approve by Alderman Koller, seconded by Link, motion passed unanimously.

Stephanie Emery Correspondence – Approval of sale of Krispy Kremes on the square on April 2, was given after a motion was made by Alderman Wagstaff, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment

City Clerk passed out annual Statement of Economic Interest to the elected officials and informed the officials that the forms had changed this year.

New Business

Pay Court – Debt Collection Agreement – Attorney Don Craven presented Pay Court a Debt Collection Agency to use for collecting ordinance violation fines that are not paid. The company will take 30% of the fine for their fee, but will add that 30% back to the amount to be payable to the City of Carlinville, Alderman Harber made a motion to accept the agreement on terms listed previously, motion seconded by McClain, motion passed unanimously. This agreement will save the City on attorney fees.

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Wagstaff at 6:12 p.m., seconded by Koller motion passed unanimously.
