Principal’s Report:

Mr. Baumberger reported the following:

∙ We currently have about 9 students interested in playing high school softball this school year. We will host more softball meetings to see if we can spark more interest in the sport this year.

∙ The Academic Foundation awarded money to the high school to be able to host a guest speaker. I’d like to thank them for their donation to this cause. The speaker will be here in early March for the students.

∙ Recently the high school has been participating in basketball tournaments. I would like to wish both teams good luck and I hope they have a great end to their seasons. Boys’ basketball and band student’s senior night will be coming up shortly.

Mrs. Scheller reported the following:

∙ The Academic Foundation also donated to the Jr. High to be able to host a guest speaker this spring. I’d like to thank them for their generosity.

∙ Recently, boys basketball hosted 8th grade night. They were able to come out of the game with a victory.

∙ Volleyball season is underway.

∙ I am glad to announce that our district is trying our best to keep students in-person learning during the COVID breakout.

Superintendent’s Report:

Mr. Murphy reported the following:

A. Sequence of Dismissal List & Seniority List

Last year we did not do evaluations so the sequence of dismissal list is similar to last year’s list. These lists will be given to both the certified and noncertified staff members as it is required annually by law.

B. COVID-19

Last week the 6th– 12th graders took an adaptive pause due to rising COVID cases and many test to stay students within the school. The increasing cases and testers became unmanageable in those grade levels, but we were able to keep our primary students in the school building. Because the students at home were able to follow the typical school day guidelines on their Chromebooks, we have counted those remote days as school days and will not have to make them up at the end of the school year. This week the early childhood and Kindergarten SMASE classrooms had to take an adaptive pause due to the amount of COVID cases in the classroom. Recently the Macoupin County Health department has announced they will now only complete contact tracing for schools. They are putting the trust in people to make the right decisions when it comes to their COVID exposure, contact tracing, and self-quarantining. The school has been requiring documentation when it comes to a positive COVID result or a required quarantine due to close contact. This will no longer be made available to us as easy as it was previously. We will now be depending on parents to inform us if their child needs to stay home due to COVID, especially if it occurred outside of school.

Steve Remer donated $1,400 to the industrial arts department. Thank you, Steve.

The next regular board meeting will be held on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the School Library at 804 West Main St, Mt. Olive, IL.

Motion by Skertich, seconded by Osmoe to adjourn at 8:20 p.m. All ayes. Motion carried.
