City of Centralia City Council met April 25.

A Public Hearing was held to discuss and report outcomes and provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the program activities and performance of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Downstate Small Business Stabilization (DSBS) grants funded through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Mayor Kuder called the public hearing to order at 4:00 p.m.

Staff Members attending: Assistant City Manager/Economic Development Director Derek Sherman and City Clerk Kim Enke
Mayor Kuder stated that the purpose of the public hearing was to report outcomes and provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the program activities and performance of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Downstate Small Business Stabilization (DSBS) grants funded through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The total amount of funds awarded to address the needs of the businesses due to the COVID-19 emergency was $25,000.00; and was used to assist the following businesses with working capital needs: Marilyn’s Downtown Lounge. Derek Sherman, explained that the hearing was to close out and report on the activities of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Downstate Small Business Stabilization (DSBS) funding that was received by Marilyn’s Downtown Lounge. He stated that they received $25,000 in working capital to weather the storm of COVID-19. He stated that they successfully utilized the funds and have managed to keep operating. He noted that the grant served its purpose to this business.
There were no public comments submitted prior the meeting or made at the meeting during the public comment portion of the meeting.
With no other comments or further discussion, the public hearing was adjourned by Mayor Kuder at 4:02 p.m.
