City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met April 14

City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met April 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Patton, Agee, Graham, and Young

CRC Ex Director Germann

CRC – Allen

City – Harting

Youth – Williams

Absent: Lawson and Garrett

Public Participation: None

Approval of Minutes: Dave Agee made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and Jack Graham seconded. Motion carried with unanimously.

Treasurers Report: Report was given by Harting. Gayla reported that only interest was added to both accounts. Also the City received $3463.00 from the Geary foundation. Dave Agee made motion to accept the report and Young seconded. Motion passed.

Monthly Reports:

1. CRD report

a. Scott Allen presented CRD report on the number of registrations at this point for the T-ball, Baseball, and softball leagues. The registration is now closed except for the Girl’s Pinto league. We need a few more players to make 4 teams.

b. Scott Allen reported to the board that he has enough players for 1 team for Boys and Girls Mustang/Pony the Clinton County League.

c. Scott reported that as of today he has 10 sponsors who have committed and needing 17 more. Jack Graham asked Scott to send him the information and he will sponsor a team. Scott explained he will be calling the other businesses who have not responded.

d. Dave Agee asked if there were any Men’s or Women’s Slow Pitch softball. Jack replied that Wamac used to have a league, but he is unaware of any leagues currently.

e. Scott reported that the Super Sonics will be playing on Tuesday and Thursday nights and planning their date for a tournament.

f. Scott reported that the Annie’s still are playing but we have had a lot of rain outs.

g. Scott reported that July 16th is when we will be hosting the USA AAA tournament.

h. The Flag Football league is not going to held.

2. Youth Center

a. Herb reported that the Youth Center has Camps beginning in June for all ages.

b. Herb reported still have Day camp for 4 weeks this summer.

c. Youth Center still remodeled and now has a Game room with Rukku, and other games will be added down the road,

d. Herb announced they will be the sponsor for this year’s Juneteenth event which will be held on June 18th. They are looking for sponsors, vendors, and Live entertainment. Gayla reported that our committee will be cooking for Juneteenth at noon. The event goes from 1-8pm. The Juneteenth committee asked about electrical issues at Laura Leeke Park. She is contacting Terry Harris and see if he can assist with the power. The committee also would like to have the roof repaired and add playground equipment.

Melissa Patton made the motion to adjourn, and Young seconded the motion. The motion carried.
