Sen. Terri Bryant is collaborating with two Republican Representatives to host senior wellness fairs.

“I encourage any senior citizen from Jefferson County and the surrounding area to attend this free senior fair and interact with state service providers and health care organizations available to them right here in Southern Illinois,” Bryant said.

Bryant's co-hosting of these events is unsurprising as she’s the minority spokesperson for the state’s Senate Behavioral and Mental Health standing committee.

The health fair with Rep. Paul Jacobs will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Aug.1 in the Rolland Lewis Building in Mt. Vernon. It is free to the public and refreshments will be provided.

KFVS 12 reported Bryant added her voice to the anti-abortion effort after the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade.

“Despite what (Governor J.B.) Pritzker and his Democrat allies tell you, this decision does not impact the radical abortion laws in Illinois,” she said to KFVS 12. “This decision will not end taxpayer-funded and late-term abortions. It will not prevent a minor to undergo a surgical procedure without their parents’ knowledge despite how unpopular that practice is with the people of our state.”

Bryant is also hosting a senior health fair with Representative David Friess from 9 to 11 a.m. on Aug. 2 in Red Bud.

The event is scheduled at the Red Bud High School Gym, 815 Locust St., in Red Bud.

Ballotpedia wrote Bryant is heading to the Nov. 8 general election uncontested to represent the state’s 58th district.

Jacobs issued a statement as well:

“I am proud to co-sponsor this free senior citizen health fair along with Senator Bryant,” Jacobs said. “Senior citizens who attend can have their blood pressure checked, pick up useful information from healthcare and elder care providers, check for unclaimed property that the state may be holding for them, and enjoy coffee, donuts and fruit free of charge.”
