Fried What?!, makers of fried foods, garnered success during the Golden Abe Food Contest at the Illinois State Fair.
“Congrats on the 1st place in the Golden Abe Food Contest,” Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer wrote on Facebook.
The state fair will close on Sunday.
In his Facebook post, Rep. Davidsmeyer shared a post from the Illinois State Fair that highlighted the win of Grafton-based "Fried What?" in the Golden Abe Food Contest.
The Illinois State Fair post read: “Congrats to Fried What of Grafton on winning the Golden Abe Food Contest! Their Fried Key Lime Pie placed first of 44 competitors. You can check them out across from the Village of Cultures on Main Avenue."
My Journal Courier reported Fried What?! has attended the fair in the past.
“There are so many tasty options all around the fairgrounds, especially in the Village of Cultures, that we came up with a great way for fairgoers to travel around the world without breaking the bank,” Illinois State Fair manager Rebecca Clark said to My Journal Courier.
The Golden Abe Fantastic Food Contest is open for public voting until Aug. 19.
The State Journal-Register reported Classic Kitchen’s Hot Beef Sundae garnered victory at the food contest last year.
“The Hot Beef Sundae features corn, roast beef, mashed potatoes with beef gravy and cheddar cheese topped with a cherry tomato,” a photographer from the publication described.
The Journal-Courier reported that the “Fried What?!” food truck will be at the Illinois State Fair on the west side of the exposition building.
