City of Carlinville City Council met July 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

PRESENT: Alderman Downey, Alderman Harber, Alderman Koller, Alderman Link, Alderman McClain, Alderman Wagstaff, Alderman Ober, Mayor Sarah Oswald, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, Police Chief Haley, Brian Zilm Zoning/Economic Dev/Grant Writing, Absent: Woodard and Curran Representative Dan Held, Alderman LeVora, City Treasurer Reichmann

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Harber to approve minutes, seconded by Link, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Treasurers Report/Police Report/Bills - Motion was made to approve all reports by Alderman Ober, seconded Koller, motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence

Gene Sullivan Correspondence – Motion was made by Alderman Harber to approve closure of the first block of East Main on August 6th at 3:00 p.m., request made by Gene Sullivan, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Carlinville Area Hospital 5K – Race and route for a 5K on September 10th sponsored by Carlinville Area Hospital was approved after a motion was made by Alderman McClain, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment

Chief Haley reminded everyone of the car show on the square on July 30th from 9 am – 2 pm and road closures that will be taking place.

New Business

Purchase of Lab Equipment for Public Safety Building – Motion was made to approve budgeted equipment for the new Public Safety Building from Forensics Source for glue fuming chamber and evidence drying cabinet for $20,000.00 by Downey, seconded by Harber, motion passed unanimously.

Hire Part-Time Dispatcher – Motion was made to hire Skyler Roach for a part-time dispatcher by Alderman Downey, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Hire Seasonal Help for Lake – Motion was made to hire Walter Smith for seasonal part employment at the lake for $12.00 per hour, by Alderman Koller, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Ordinance Amending Chapter 33 of the Municipal Code of the City of Carlinville – Sidewalks/

Motion was made to approve ordinance by Alderman Harber, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously. Change to the ordinance allows PW Committee to decide on amount reimbursed to residents on sidewalks and ½ or all paid by the city on curbs and gutters.

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 6:10 p.m., seconded by Koller motion passed unanimously.
