Men's soccer gains 1-0 shutout win at Westminster

The men's soccer team retained second place in the SLIAC standings with a 1-0 shutout win at Westminster on Wednesday.

Pablo Valverde's goal in the 68th minute gave the Panthers the win.

Greenville finished the match with a 18-10 shot advantage, including a dominating 11-2 effort in the second half.

Valdverde provided five of GU's shots and three on goal. Jaime Torres provided four shots and one on goal.

Overall, the Panthers peppered the Westminster goalkeeper with 11 shots on frame.

The Panthers (6-3-5, 6-1-4 SLIAC) will travel to Blackburn for a match on Saturday as they look to avenge their only SLIAC loss and strengthen their second place position in the conference standings.
